Yesterday, a US Air airplane crashed directly into the ground outside of Pittsburgh as it prepared to land. The rash killed all 131 people on board and was flying in from Chicago. This crash is the worst in the United States in the past 3 years.
Don't start with your lead with the "when" or "where" of a story. Start with the most important and/or interesting info, generally the "who" and/or "what" of the story.
The news is that 131 people were killed in an air crash, but you don't tell me that until your second sentence. The news needs to be up front in the opening sentence.
I am a Radio/Television/Film major, with a minor in Public Relations at San Jose State University.
I also have a radio show on 90.5FM KSJS. Catch "iLLpHonics" Wednesday nights from 6pm - 10pm on 90.5FM KSJS. Hip Hop in its purest form.
