The victims were WeiMing Chen, 28, and his wife, Li Lu, 30. The couple had left their tour group around 10 a.m. to take pictures in the cathedral's lower parking lot.
A man approached them and waved a pistol as he demanded their money. Chen handed over $100 dollars, a Visa card, passports, camera and airline tickets. The thief then took off running.
The police are searching for the suspect who is described as being about 18 years old, wearing a black jacket and cap. It is unsure wether the couple made their flight back to Taipei before 1pm, Sgt. Lawrence Price of the San Francisco police department said.

Good job on this lead and news story. But you need to proofread more carefully:
according to...? (something missing)
See AP Stylebook entry for "dollar"
whether (not wether)
p.m., not pm
You don't need to say "the victims" -- just name them and explain how they left the tour group, etc.
