Find That Lead

DIRECT ADDRESS LEAD

Times Online UK

If the full moon tonight looks unusually large, it is not your imagination – it is the biggest and brightest full moon to be seen for 15 years.

This is an example of a Direct Address lead because the author using second-person narrative to address the reader. This is obvious in the "it is not YOUR imagination" line.

SCENE SETTER LEAD

ESPN (Associated Press)

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple students dressed for an upset, wearing Santa Claus hats and white beards and some even held signs that read "Merry Christmas!"

This is an example of a Scene Setter lead because the author describes the scene before the college game, setting up the story.
